The fomer house of the late architect of Canouan Antonio Ferrari underwent a complete reconstruction in the last two years. The target of the new owner was to preserve its original natural character of a hazienda but at the same time to lift the house up to the standards of 21st century. In addition to this the aim was to create a new place for all kinds of social occassions (big parties, barbecues, weddings etc.). This all is easy to say but was a real challenge to do.
The house has been first stripped of to the bare shell. All systems have been refurbished or exchanged. A completely new resident area was created. The house has got a new big fully equipped oak kitchen with Miele equipment, one outdoor and one indoor fireplace, a new bar in the club room, new main entrance road and a new parking lot. All guest bedrooms have been fully refurbished and a new big garden in a slope below the house with a retaining wall was created. The house has got new travertine floors, the pool was partially redone and refurbished. Landscaping works around the house gave the last touch.
The final result is something that nobody expected to happen. Villa Ferrari became the biggest and very unique house on Canouan having the capacity to accomodate up to eighteen adults in various fully equippped bedrooms:
The six guest bedrooms share the same floor plan. The rooms are fully appointed with air condition, a double bed , en suite bathroom with a shower and vanities. Two of these bathrooms have a bath. Handmade Middle East rugs are by each side of the bed. These bedrooms are all equipped with sliding glass door that open to the garden. There is free wireless and MP3 compatible docking station. There is also a beverage fridge, espresso maker. tee pot and ample closets for storage. Two chairs and a table are outside each room by the sliding door. Shower chairs are available on request.
The master bedroom in the resident area with another two bathrooms both having a bath has a studio room for children next to it and another fully equipped bedroom on the upper deck may be used out by groups where extra space is required. Private living room with a desk is a perfect office for private meetings or calls. In case of need this room can be converted to the ninth bedroom.
The great club room features a bar, HIFI stereo and opens via louvre doors to the pool area with a grill. On the other side of the pool there is a more formal dining area and a fully equipped kitchen.
The pool is surrounded by a sun deck with pool chairs having also a children’s shallow part for the younger set.
The whole house has a wireless
There is a permanet exhibition of the works of the architect Antonio Ferrari all around in the villa: in the guest bedrooms, corridors and other spaces there are hanging his framed visions and drawings remembering this extraordinary man. Precious Middle east carpets all around the house on the floors, Nomad pillows, African Makonde ebony pieces of art, big two floor chandelliers in both club and dining rooms and wall lights all being made from wrought iron together with other ancient artefacts and wooden furniture create a unique atmosphere.
With all of these Villa Ferrari provides a perfect retreat for families or big groups of friends. It offers a graceful balance between private areas and opportunities for communal sharing. Transitions from indoor to outdoor living areas are seamless. This villa allows its guests to fully relax in pampered style. The clarity of the surrounding waters of the southern Antilles, the white sand beaches, and the varied sporting opportunities ensure that travelers of all stripes and ages encounter activities to suit.
